Mediation is a voluntary alternative dispute resolution process, in which disputing parties involve a neutral person (the mediator) who facilitates negotiations between parties to help them settle their dispute. If the parties do not reach a settlement, the dispute may still be settled in proceedings before our arbitrators or in court.
Arbitration is a private and consensual method of dispute resolution in which the disputants agree to submit their dispute(s) to a neutral party (the arbitrator/arbitral tribunal) for a final award that will be binding on the parties.
The Alternative Dispute Solutions Centre (The Centre) is a private dispute resolution authority established in 2020 to promote the use of early neutral evaluation, mediation, arbitration and other alternative dispute resolution (ADR) mechanisms in Zimbabwe. In addition, it provides education and training for current and prospective ADR practitioners.
